To all who knew Brittany: I came upon this website by surfing, and having never heard of SMA, stayed and read this story. I have a little girl who was born 10 days after Brittany, and I can only imagine what life would be like without her. My heart aches for you!! Brittany is such a beautiful little girl. I often wonder why things like this must happen, but the only thing I can come up with is that if things like this didn't happen, we wouldn't appreciate our children as much. Brittany was one of those angels sent down to remind people not to take anything for granted, even people like me who never knew her. As soon as I got done reading this story I had to go give my daughter a big hug and a kiss. God bless you for making your story known as it really woke me up and made me thankful to have my daughter with me. God bless you, and you will be in my prayers.

Today is March 14th, and I just read Brit's story. I can't believe she has been gone for more than 2 years. I remember like it was yesterday visiting you, and holding and playing with Brittany. I will never forget the day you called me and told me she was gone. I cried and cried. All I wanted to do was get on a plane and come back to see you so that I could be there for you if you needed me. To this day I still find it hard to talk about it with you, because even as I sit here and write this, tears are rolling down my face. I was totally blown away by this website! I never really understood the whole disease until I read Brittany's story - you truly are amazing people! The story left an ache in my heart and the pictures are absolutely beautiful, she was quite a model!! There is not enough room here to write down all that I have to say to you, I just finished reading your daughters story... I can not believe how much your story matches the story of my niece. The two are almost identical. My family has been through all the good and bad times, with the exception that my niece, Kylee just turned 4 years old in June. She has the same problems that your daughter had with the suctioning, and the feeding machines, she also has a tracheostomy.  Things in life are so tough. Its not fair that these precious little children have to suffer with so much pain and agony. My niece has accepted that she will never walk sit up although we know it will become more of a struggle in years to come. I am so sorry to hear about your sad story. I don't know how I am going to survive when and if something happens to my niece, she is my angel and I have a fear that I will never be able to let her go. How do these things happen to such happy little girls? I just wanted to let let you know that there are people dealing with these issues everyday and we understand the hardships you and your family went through.

It's really hard to know what to say except for thank you for sharing Brit-Leigh with me. I am the mother of three and can't possibly imagine going thru what you guys went thru. She was an angel sent from God above. After reading your story as a parent i realize how very blessed i am that my children are so healthy. Your story has touched my heart very deeply. She is such a beautiful baby girl i know that you are grateful that god blessed you as being her parents. I have an 8th month old daughter now and to say that every day is a blessing with her and my older children is an understatement. I don't think that parents really truly realize what a precious gift children are that in its self is a miracle how there life begins. Thank you for sharing your daughter with me and everyone else and I want you to know how strong of a person I believe you to be by telling your daughters story and sharing her short but fulfilling life with us.
