Hi, my name is Kaiden Ray Wills, I'm 5 1/2 years old, and I was born with SMA type 1 on September 24th, 2001.  When I was born looking healthy and weighing in at 8 pounds and 5 ounces, my parents shelly and Roy wills already knew my risk of having SMA, because see they had already had there first child my brother Dustin Roy Wills that was born with SMA type 1 1994 that died 4 days after his first birthday with pneumonia. We had also had SMA before on my mom’s side of the family, I had a cousin, Brandy Millner, that had died with SMA at, I think, 6 months old, we never dreamed of having this heart aching disease in our family twice, now three times. My sister, Kelsey, who is 10 now was the second born to my parents and is SMA free, we thank God for this blessing everyday. My parents have almost lost me several times when I was younger, but my parent’s faith was strong and god just wasn’t ready for me yet. I’m 5 now and doing great, although I am bi-pap depended now and have been for about a year and a half, but I’m doing better than ever. My mommy takes real good care of me, I've finally started putting on weight and I haven’t been in the hospital for any sickness for three years now. Moma says I’m her little hero and her little fighter, I couldn’t be more special and perfect in her eyes. I am her angel baby, and although it’s been tough, she says she wouldn’t change anything, that’s a mother unconditional love, and she knows that one day soon there will be a cure for SMA for all of us angels, and that’s my story.
