National Make-A-Difference Day
National
Make a Difference Day is recognized every fourth Saturday in
October. What a wonderful day to have! A nationally
celebrated day to do good to others!
SMA is an area where everyone really can make a difference! Need some ideas? Here we go! *Check the internet and register your project(s)! *Contact your local government-Mayor, City Council, Governor-- and have them sign a declaration recognizing the day! *Recognize the day yourself by doing something for SMA--talk to a friend, have a garage or yard sale, join Families of SMA or a local chapter, volunteer! etc *Talk to your boss about recognizing Make A Difference Day and SMA at the same time! *Have a luminary or candle lighting ceremony to honor all SMA victims and their families. *Contact your local media--write letters to the editors, call the radio stations and tv stations and tell them about the day and about SMA. Send out press releases! Every cause is welcomed here! *Emphasize the human interest aspect. Chances are, you know someone who is dealing with SMA, whether you are aware of it or not! This is, after all the number one genetic killer of infants and children under the age of 2! *Hand out flyers about the day and about SMA! Thank you! Every person that learns about SMA is one person closer to our finding a cure! |
